I clamped the top tube and started hammering the top lip over. Two body hammers one in each hand. It's not a brutal thing but a tap from one hammer to the other. using the curved head of the hammer to lay it down without crushing the tube. Clamp weld and move on to the next 3 inches and start over.

It's about 2 in the morning at this point. 2am + banging away at loose tin = trouble. I figured I would stop. I sat back and looked at the work so far while I drank a cold Dr Pepper and watch a little tv.

I tacked on the top strip and a few other things and stopped banging on the car at 5 am. Amy told me she thought someone was going to call the cops on me Razz
These welds are not done but more to get the shape. It will be welded up later.

Looks great! The little lady would have fit if I spent those hours in the garage. She wants me to spend more time on the house. I've heard that for years for her and am tired of it. Go figure I'm doing tile floor in the bath room. I hope to break the old ball and chain sometime, but I don't think it will be soon. God I love that gal. She's put up with me for 37 years so I guess I'm a keeper. If your doing something that is not in the wee hours of the night let me know. Of course I haven't used a lot vacation so I can maybe burn some Midnight Oil to help out.

I need to spend more time on the house but with an in home daycare I'm limited on doing work through the week so I hit the garage. Most nights the wife is asleep at 10 so she doesn't mind as long as I keep the noise down to a roar in the garage.

A few hours here and there. It adds up. I'm rushing more than normal trying to beat the real cold weather that will be coming soon.
I spent a few hours today and got the back of the body all tacked on.

Another late night. I have the skin all the way around the tub now. It is spot welded on About every 2 inches. I will need to go over all the seams and weld them up tight but that's no biggie. A little time consuming because you have to jump around the body to keep the heat down. One spot will heat the metal up too much and cause it to warp.
Bread & Butter 27 Ford Project - Page 3 003-14
Bread & Butter 27 Ford Project - Page 3 004-12

With the skin all cut, shaped and tacked on I grabbed the mock up trans so I could cut the firewall.

Yeap.. They match the year or era of the build I'm shooting for better than a set of smog heads with the holes in them.

RPU ..Roadster Pick Up. It will have a 4 foot bed on it. It will also sit about 2 inches lower too. I can't do anything about lowering it more until I get my front tires. That way I know where everything will be set at.

I'd like to have it but I'd have to see how my money flow is. Right now it seems like it flows away faster than it flows to me. Very Happy

Well I talked to Ryan when he said he had some tires and headed over to his house. Ryan hooked me up big time. Thanks again bro!
I walked out with a pair of JC Penny, yes I said JC Penny 600-16" bias tires that are like new. He also let go of a possible steering box and a set of friction shocks. The tires were the biggest part of this build that I didn't have. I can finish setting up my front end now.

The day that I went over Ryans I worked on the car earlier. Vickers came down and had to try on the tub to see what he thought. He grabbed and old fire place poker and a wheel and was ready to let the wind blow through his hair.

I'm sorry to the ones that don't care or already know some of this stuff I'm getting ready to put down. I try to not get to detailed on some stuff because I figure it's boring to most but I've been getting asked alot of questions on these front ends. I figured I'd go through the basics for anyone that want to know this stuff.

The front end is very simple. I tried to tell Vickers that it's no different than building a wood cart when we were kids and driving them down Vine St hill. Only I used rope to steer with then. Very Happy
