Re: Bread & Butter 27 Ford Project
I have been messing with the rearend a little. Well too much! I thought I was going to leave the rearend alone but I just wasn't happy with it. Went from a stock rearend to and F-body then to a S10. To keep it simple and faster to build I was wanting to keep the leaf springs but the wheels set too far back for my liking. I was going to go with a set of split wish bones and move the rearend forward a couple inches but after digging into it I changed my mind once again. The rear frame rail had a cobbled up patch welded into it to. I want to move forward on this truck but I just couldn't leave it the way it was. The whole back end is getting changed. That's the only way I'll be happy.

Hey Stew, I know it's too far away and you will probably just build your own, but there is T bed over on the HAMB for sale.

Hopefully I will be happy with this rearend set up. More work but I think this will do the trick.
Fishing the new? rearend out of it's old frame wasn't too bad.

Re: Bread & Butter 27 Ford Project
The back of this frame is not what I want so a set of rails will be tossed on. Since there isn't any real weight in the back, the rails will be at the top compared to being on the bottom of the bed.
Amy is making a template and support for where the top of the rail will sit.

Re: Bread & Butter 27 Ford Project
It's really nice when she comes out with me. It doesn't happen as often as I like because she works too many and some crazy hours. Before next July that will change. I tell her that we are not married and I have a girlfriend that comes to the house 3 days out of the week. She gets 3 days off but when she's working it 10 to 12 hours a day she's gone then sleeps most of the day away. This job has been rough on our marriage but what are ya going to do. There is no place to work right now.Arieldouglas wrote:I envy you. Vicky will support me all the way but she is Not working in the garage.

I know it's looking a little crazy. You just have to wait and see how it turns out.

I agree too! Now if it is in the barn forking horse manure, Vick is there. Grease? Forget it.

Re: Bread & Butter 27 Ford Project
Amy was off work last night so we spent a few hours on the T. I have been holding on to these old boat bow for a while. This thing is going to have some miles put on it and I want something to keep the sun from burning my pale white Irish, potato pickin' skin. I burn within a half hour. Some type of roof had to be made for when we were on the open highway for 100's of miles going some place.

Re: Bread & Butter 27 Ford Project
The bows were way to big so a little chopping, welding and bending here and there and within an hour we had our frame for a snap on canvas top.

Re: Bread & Butter 27 Ford Project
After we get the T road worthy we will drive it down to Somerset, Ky to a lady that did the top on our boat a few years ago. She does really good work.

Most of the time the top will be off but if we take off out of state it will be there. Not saying we will use it but it's there if we need it.
