Post by TAHOE May 7th 2013, 4:46 pm

My wife decided to go get her Ohio CCW this past weekend, cheers got 98% on written test, 23/24 on her shooting. She missed her 2nd shot as she had never shot a pistol so she was not ready for the light recoil and just fired off #2 before resetting for next shot. We have a long walking path by our house she wants to walk on, but very wooded, she wanted to carry some protection so the reason she went for the CCW. She used a .22 in training, but the police officers at her work recommended a .380 for her. Not sure what we will get for her, but has to have small grip for her small hands.
May go get mine in a few months when we get some spare $$$$
Told her from now on if she hears a noise in house, don't even wake me , go take care of it herself Very Happy

From personal experience, two words of advice.
1. Make sure that she can work the action easily. Most actions are difficult to work for a typical woman, especially when new.
2. Make sure that she is comfortable shooting a .380. A .380 has more recoil than a typical woman wants to handle.

Dad bought a S&W lightweight to keep in the truck. I guess you can say it has a shaved hammer. Pain in the neck to pull the hammer back if you want to.

Thanks for advice, I'll let her know.
Daughter has to get braces at the tune of $4800, maybe a while for gun purchase. Sad

Something to think about if she is having problems with the slide is something like a beretta cheetah. They come in a couple models but i know that there is a .22, .32, and .380 that comes with a flip up barrel. Load the first round in the barrel and its ready to go without racking the slide! Very Happy

The Ruger LCP does not not leave the slide open after the last round has been ejected and is more expensive than the Taurus TCP and Kel-Tech P3-AT. Unfortunately, that is the extent of my knowledge on pocket pistols.

I cant speak about a revolver but the PT111 Pro 9mm that I Have Ive put thousands off rounds down the pipe without a single problem. I do clean it very well. It has been a great gun. Just as with any thing you can get a bad one.

I have to agree with Brownie, the PT111 that I "had", I've put thousands of rounds through without a single problem.

Wifey got her a Ruger LC380 last night, her dad bought it for her. I guess it's a new model, they revamped their LCP380, made more like their LC9, light weight, less recoil, seems easy to use, she is happy with it.
But man....ammo prices what the heck? Shocked Sad

Ruger is my favorite. Like you said Ammo is crazy. If it keep going up I guess we can throw the gun at someone instead of shooting it.

yea, prices are nuts. I'm trying to find some 22 longs, you would think they are gold, if you can find them. I have some police friends even looking for them, it's crazy.

If they can't take our guns, they will drive up the price of ammo so no one has any.
