Help with over heating issue.
I got this in a PM and thought some of you guys could toss some ideas out.
On that 90 camaro of Chris's it running around 220-230 and spewing all the water back out of the over flow. We by passed the fan relay and went with a toggle. We also replaced the thermostat and flushed the system. Got any idea's Thinking maybe cap or water pump, but it seem to be moving around in the radiator and it's not leaking.

My first thought would be trapped air.

I agree. Trapped air. I think o Reilly Carries a special no spill funnel that you can get just for that

Re: Help with over heating issue.
I was told to drill a small hole on the side of the thermostat to allow air to pass by when filling the system back up when installing a new one. did it on my wagon.

Re: Help with over heating issue.
Isn't the heater higher than the motor? How about pulling a heater hose while filling it to let the air out?
AND a new cap?
AND a new cap?

I think it's the cap.

Re: Help with over heating issue.
On a side note does it still have the lower air dam under the radiator that help catches air from under the car? I know without those they will tend to run hotter for sure because the grille opening is so small that not much air can get to the radiator on those Camaro's.

Re: Help with over heating issue.
Got most of the air out of the system. It's running around 185-190. Still want to get a new cap anyway. Now I need to look for a third gen overflow bottle.

Re: Help with over heating issue.
Advance sells an aftermarket one if you can't find a stock one. I'm using one on my Fire Chicken.
