Re: Few trucks I seen.
This is where i get upset with people. You have a right to price your stuff how you want but tell it how it is. I think way too many people are watching TV shows where cars are bringing in crazy money. That or people are just nuts.
Anyway. This guy calls me. He says he seen my ad and had a 1953 Chevy truck for sale. I ask him a few questions. He says it came from out west and has hardly any rust in the truck. Body is not beat up but it's missing the tailgate. He goes on as i ask him more and more. It's a shortbed. He thinks the side glass has a crack in it but it's not bad. Overall the truck is in great shape. Stock frame and everything is there. It may even run he's never messed with it.

Re: Few trucks I seen.
Long bed stepside, The hood was creased. The roof had been smashed in. The cab was shot with rust and holes shot and cut into it. The left door was shot. All the fender were smashed ripped and full of bondo. The grille was shot. The only saveable part on the whole truck was the right door. Even the gauges were shot.
$1800.00 firm with no title for a door? You never know what you are going to look at. But this guy seen gold in dog (BEEP).

Re: Few trucks I seen.
Floors were gone too. The roof was caved in and someone drilled a hole right in the middle of the roof for a light or something so all the water that hit the roof just ran in the floors or what was left of them.
As I said I think some people think they are sitting on a gold mine due to some of these crazy TV shows. On the bright side it did have one good door that could be fixed.

Re: Few trucks I seen.
Yeah, I agree about B-J and Mecum...they, along with Ebay, have made (many) people think anything old is worth a small mint. Don't get me started...
I'm sorry to see that you wasted a day and gas to get yanked around.
Flip side the grill on that Mack was looking awfully nice! And indeed you don't see many shortbed F-100s optioned out like this one was...302, C4, chrome dress-up...that's a keeper for sure.
Later,
Lee

Yea you got to at least make the effort to look. You never know when you will find that split window Vette that Grandma put away for her grandson as he went to war. $50.00 sonny and get it out of my garage! One can only dream....

Very, very true...that's why I always ask if I see something interesting. Nearly had a legit '68 442 black/red 4-speed non-console car for $500 many years back. Went back to buy it the next day and the old man's daughter opened the door and said $10K. I just turned around and walked back down the stairs. That car died in 10-foot tall weeds back home in Alaska.
I agree it's a good thing to go and see but it never, ever feels good when you are given sanding paper instead of Charmin.

Re: Few trucks I seen.
He would look like a genius if he scrapped all the junk parts for scrap price, and sold the door separate for cash without wasting anybody's time except his own; OR sold it for the right price and not wasted His time to scrap it.... what's a good solid door worth? $200- $250 max? Sell the whole truck for 3, and let the guy who buys it get a return on the gas and time to come get it, strip it out and haul it away for scrap $. I've Sold lots of older stuff for $150 -$300, and some musclecar carcasses for
$800-$1000 because they had too much going for them to scrap, but I wasn't going to spend the time making them into something that they weren't, so get something for them, and let them go to a good home- they are just like the ugliest pony in the pasture..... somebody loves it and can't live without it.
