Aluminum Arc Welding Empty Aluminum Arc Welding

Post by Arieldouglas May 17th 2012, 5:19 am

I've been welding most of my life. When you grow up on a farm with worn out equipment, a lot of repairs are required. What a Face

I never welded much aluminum because I never have had a gas rig to go on my welder so I usually worked around it or carried it somewhere.

Anyway has anyone used these?

I used them for the first time tonight.
You can tell I going to have to practice some and play with the settings some but they work pretty dang good.

They aren't cheap. $12.00 for that little box. But cheaper than buying a gas rig and gas for no more than I would need it.

For an arc welder? I have never welded aluminum but always wished I had the stuff to do it.

I was at TSC picking up a roll of wire and I just happened to notice them hanging on the rack so I thought what the heck. I heard all my life you couldn't do it. Works pretty good though. cheers

I've used them in an emergency, it will never do a pretty job, but with lots of practice, and lots of screwing with the amp setting, you should be able to glue stuff together enough to get home. Start low on amps and work up.
