Re: RIP Jim Leis
I saw on his FB that he was in the hospital and it was looking bleak. I was hoping it would turn around. As I posted on the CCC forum, the last time I really got to hang out with him was in 2010 at the Country Run For Fun in his hometown of West Union.
Re: RIP Jim Leis
He called me from the hospital last week and said he was doing better, hoping to go home in 20 days. RIP Jim.

Re: RIP Jim Leis
What a shame. He was in rough shape many times and pulled through. I know he wasn't doing so well and someone told me they didn't think he had long. It's sad. No matter how prepared you think you are it's really rough on the love ones left behind too.

Re: RIP Jim Leis
From what you guys are saying and what they're saying over on the HAMB he sounds like a guy anybody should have been proud to know. That's a pretty nice tribute; to have that many people believe his friendship enriched their life in some way.

Re: RIP Jim Leis
Junkyard Jeff and I were tossing around the idea of attending the Cincy Street Rods Annual NSRA Appreciation Day @ Easy Street Rods & Rides then heading on the the viewing. We were just wondering if there would be any takers to meet up with us and go on to West Union?

Re: RIP Jim Leis
The originals went down to West Union to pay respects,me Doug and Dennis and Bill Tate and his wife were there when we got there,I am glad Dennis went with us or I would have been at the river since I thought it was a straight shot down Rt 62 and need to look at maps instead of going off a faded memory from the last time I was in the area.

Re: RIP Jim Leis
It was a nice memorial service. I'm glad I got to meet his children and hear stories from their childhood and his. I'd like to have met him earlier in life, he really was a great guy.

I'm glad I went. It was a nice memorial service. Wasn't sure what I was getting into at first but I think the family appreciated our coming the distance. It was a long wet drive but well worth the time spent.
