Re: Stewart's 1954 Chevy Shop Truck
NO! lol billet billet billet.
although some 17x10 and 17x8 wheel vintiques would look killer on it, face of the wheel painted an oddball color, chrome bullet center cap, chrome lugs, polished lip, patina'd.
(please note i have far to many trucks and far to many ideas with not enough money, time or space to do any of it)

Scott, your garage is two or three times the size of Steve's "work area" in his garage. I have been there, and his utilization of space is absolutely amazing!

When you have to move the truck outside just so you have enough room to think you know your garage is too small.

1987 Dodge Dakota frame. The front is stock the rear is moved back 5" and up 2". It also has 3" drop blocks in it. While it does look cool it may be too low. We almost ripped the fenders off it going in and out of the garage. Speed bumps would do them in. We will see after it gets some road time. Scary thing is it's not at it's wet weight yet. It may still drop lower after the gas tank, battery and everything else goes in.relaxednoma wrote:is this still on the dakota chassis/suspension? what year range dakota?

It's too low for the roads here. The running boards would be gone after one trip to town. You been on some off 'em Steve.

Or the random man hole cover that's sticking up 4 inches higher than the road.

Re: Stewart's 1954 Chevy Shop Truck
lol, my utilization of space sucks (for the most part. I need to get stuff in cabinets, shelving on the other side organized and get the ford up on dollys so I can scoot it over towards the other side. Or just plain put the ford in storage and swap them and the sonoma. one side would house vehicle being worked on, other side would be work area, but alas, not in the cards. Now I'd punch a panda in face to have your garage that houses your s10 and axle killer!Roller Coaster wrote:relaxednoma wrote:(please note i have far to many trucks and far to many ideas with not enough money, time or space to do any of it)

ahh yeah, it'll bring the tail down some more. Although it sounds like swapping the 3 inch drop block for a 2 or 1 (boo on 1!) would be a good alternative....OR air shocks!Reb Stew wrote:1987 Dodge Dakota frame. Ya think? When I first let the Mercury down for the maiden voyage, all four tires rubbed. I changed the blocks in the front and the back to get it so it'd go around the block. I changed the rear blocks/shocks all summer long to get it so I could carry something/somebody. The thing looked good but just wasn't drivable. It's really still to low to be practical but who wants that? You should be able to get away with being pretty low since your going to bag it. That's what I'd like to have but..................

I'm not bagging this one. That's Johnny's. Static drop and rip. If it ripped the mufflers off on a speed bump just smile and keep going.FalconEddie1964 wrote:You should be able to get away with being pretty low since your going to bag it. Who needs mufflers anyways.

Re: Stewart's 1954 Chevy Shop Truck
That was an interesting night.
Cop: I seen you driving by slow so I figured you were trying to stay off the pipes!
Me: So I was pulled over for going to slow? I have a gear in the rear.
Cop: A what?
Me: If I have to explain it to you, you wouldn't understand.
Cop: Well does this thing even have a muffler on it?
Me: Yea, it has 2 of them. You are more than welcome to climb under it to see!

Re: Stewart's 1954 Chevy Shop Truck
I started working on the headlights but ran out of welding wire. After that I was bored so I messed with the spray cans. I have been messing with the primer for a few days between working on other stuff and thought I'd show you what I'm after.

Re: Stewart's 1954 Chevy Shop Truck
I still don't have an air compressor. Later I will do a satin blue or some other color but for right now I thought I'd give it a little fake patina.
