Torque tube Empty Torque tube

Post by dieseldr April 3rd 2011, 12:46 am

All right, need some help for my 34 Fordor. I will be installing a 59AB w/3 speed in my fordor. The old torque tube is still there from the rear axle forward. I don't have the trans and the car here at the present time, the engine and trans will show up some time next month. My question is, what can I expect to see on the back of my trans that will hook up to the TT? Is there a yoke required, is there a bracket holding the TT to the trans? I have never fiddled with a torque tube before so this will all be new to me. Are there any tricks to this hookup? You may ask " why in god's green esrth is he using the torque tube?" This is a project that will be a tribute to my father. I recently found the 59AB/3speed that he raced in the early 50's at all the local dirt tracks. I'm bringing the engine home and will be putting it in this fordor, and if he were here, I'm sure he would be tickled to see it and proud someone gives a crap about it to make it happen. Looking forward to gettin this all together. Any help would be appreciated.

I'll keep this handy for future reference. I'm sure I will be sourcing stuff from somewhere, it may as well be from somebody who knows what I need. Thank you.
