Took off tuesday morning for Daytona in the 55 and its the longest trip I have taken it on since putting it togather, thought I had the wipers working but had none in the hard rain from the Lexington area all the way to north of Atlanta plus the top seals leaked a bit. The gas gauge worked when it wanted to and a broken spring in the backrest wanted to poke me in the back when I sat in the seat wrong but nothing a blanket over the backrest could not help out,the foam in the cushion is shot causing my leg to go numb at times but had a blast driving it there and would do it again. It felt great to cruise up and down the A1A in a old car this time and all over the area with the top down in 80 degree weather and driving on the beach,I took a bunch of pictures and will get them ready soon. A GPS helped with the way off speedo and the portible satellite radio plugged in the stereo made the trip alot more enjoyable and would have hated the trip back in the AM only days.

The trip was a little rough on the junkyard trans so I will have to replace it before spring,I paid 65 dollars for it and it lasted about 10,000 miles so I got my moneys worth out of it. It always had a wimpy 3rd gear shift at light throttle and the too short driveshaft wore out the tailshaft bushing so I almost pulled it and had it gone over but decided to chance it,since it was going to be removed when the Y block went in I did not want to waste money rebuilding it but Doug has one I can use untill that time comes. The gas gauge will also be repaired and I can care less about the wipers because of rain x but looking into converting to electric.
