Looks like a lot of folks had a good time. So, did anybody bring home any old stuff from the antique store/farm? Looked like a lot of neat stuff there!

There was a few that brought back some small stuff. Few signs and stuff like that. I don't think anyone grabbed anything huge.

It was a little freaky when the ferry and the barge looked like they were trying to see how close they could get to each other.

All the hard work this week payed off for Howie. He made the run.

We made it back to land.

When we parked Joe and I was standing across the street. Some people walked down the sidewalk and I looked up??? Double take??? I ask how he was doing and he said good. What's going on? Car Show? I explained we did the run to West Union run as he's walking down the street with his wife. He grinned and said ahhh, he seemed very friendly. Well welcome to Augusta.


I wouldn't stick the camera in his face while he was there but he spoke to Roxie and Ronnie and I snapped them then. If you don't know, that is Nick Clooney. He was on the news desk and all over the TV when I was a kid. He is the brother of singer Rosemary Clooney, and the father of actor and film director George Clooney

We gassed up again and was headed down Rt 8 running the rivers edge. Nice cool breeze. Trees shaded the roadway most of the time. I was thinking how this was the first run we never had anything major happen while running down the road.

Carnage

I was cruising prety good for a while and then slow to the speed limit. A few miles down the road we hear this BOOM!......... I thought the front tire blew out. I slowed down pretty fast but never felt the truck lean. No flat?? I ran it off the road and into a driveway and the back end felt like it shift???? Broke a back spring??? Nope. I turn the truck off look at the front tire. Glance at the back and walk around the rear.



Looks bad huh? Tossed the rod through the block?? Looks like oil. Nope.. The rubber stap holding the battery broke or fell off and it tossed the battery out of the engine bay and then we drove over it. Well not all the way. The u bolts on the rearend count it enough to make it go boom. Even with the top ripped open it was still hissing.

With the Scroungers Pit Crew Corey's truck was up in running in no time. Jeff grabbed his jack and yank the battery out. Ronnie yanked his battery out of his car and they held the wires on the terminals to get the truck to start and then Joe taped the cables up to keep them from arcing out. We got lucking that the battery end broke off and not the starter.

We slammed the hood and drove the truck back some 30 miles running only off the charging system. Battery was laying in the bed of the truck.

I even rolled the power windows up when I got home before turning the truck off. It ripped a few wires loose from that goes to the inside of the cab too. I'll have to figure out what all it did when Corey's scrapes up enough money to buy a battery and cables.
