Chevrolet Two Piece Windshield Empty Chevrolet Two Piece Windshield

I need some assistance! I own a 1947 Chevrolet Stylemaster. Like many old Chevrolets, mine has a two piece windshield with a piece of stainless steel molding in the center.

To make a long story short, the molding came loose last fall and I discovered that one of the previous owners had only attached it with black weather stripping adhesive. I plan on installing a Fulton visor before spring which is braced in the center by the molding. I really need to figure out how to attach this molding correctly. I discovered that there is a metal strip in the center of the two piece windshield that is covered by the stainless steel molding. I removed to screws on the interior of the windshield hoping to get the metal strip loose only to discover that it is on the inside of the body, and can only be removed with removing the windshield.

I am very new to the old iron, so any assistance would be greatly appreciated since I am new to the old iron.

I thought when I took johnny s out last weekend that the screws from the inside were attached to that out side moulding from inside also the screws in the center are different than the ones around the trim (inside) I double check this afternoon and let you know for sure.

There are five or six screws on the inside of the windshield (down the center) that run through the center interior molding, through the rubber gasket, and into a metal strip on the outside of the windshield.

I thought that I could remove those screws, remove the metal strip, insert the rubber gasket in the stainless molding, insert the metal strip in the rubber gasket, and install the screws. But the metal strip is on the inside of the window flange on the body, therefore, can not be removed without removing the windshield. scratch

Greg I know someone who has a visor for your car and is looking to sell it. Not sure if you are into them but this one is not too bad.
