Re: Amy's 58, "Ms. Clara Bel Air"
I ordered and picked up the engine mount through Advance. With the club discount they were only 15 bucks for both of them. I still need to get the 58 in the barn. It's been too muddy to get the car off the trailer. Randy Vickers trailer is MIA. I'm hoping to get the car off over the weekend and get it back to him.
Re: Amy's 58, "Ms. Clara Bel Air"
His tow truck was almost last night.....he broke three teeth off the pinion. I had a spare 3.73 ring and pinion i gave him. He called me today and said he loved it. It had 4.10s in it before and on the highway it ran that Big block to tightAdmin wrote:Randy Vickers trailer is MIA.

Just for the record this is not going to be some wicked hot rod. It's just a family car so the whole family can get out and run around. It will look cool but we are not trying to make a trophy winner. It's just cooler to us to use an old car for a family car.

You evedently don't travel with a group of people. The more the merrier! Heat or not, it's more fun to run around in a 58 than an 08.

Uh, yea I do. 5 boys? I just don't have the luxury of being able to buy something like this and put money into it for a family ride (or that forgiving of a wife, at that). And to clarify, I don't prefer 4 doors ..... but am a sucker for wagons. Just a preference thing.

Yeah, and I think his Olds must have died a horrible death. I've never seen or heard of it since he tore it appart.

Re: Amy's 58, "Ms. Clara Bel Air"
For a family car, I would think you might want to use a 250 in line. I had one in a 67' van and it was great. Hooked it up to a 350 Turbo and had great power and economy. Just need a powerglide flex plate and your good to go. If you want some bling add a couple of dueces or 3. My 2 cents. Dahhh.

Re: Amy's 58, "Ms. Clara Bel Air"
Years ago i had a 66 Chevelle SS and blew the engine up in the winter and it was my everyday driver....i put the only thing i had laying around at the time......a 250 straight 6 with a 2.20 Muncie 4-speed and a 3.42 12 bolt posi ...ran pretty good...Remember that Ronnie? I know Glenn does because he ended up with it ..With todays gas prices that might be a good option againpuddin head wrote:For a family car, I would think you might want to use a 250 in line. Re: Amy's 58, "Ms. Clara Bel Air"
Wasn't too sure what I was going to do for a motor. The 58 came with a reman Napa engine but I know nothing about it. I yanked the 454 out of the old work truck. It is a good running engine. Nothing fast just a stock big block. I have it on the floor of the barn right now. I am hoping Monday or Tuesday to shoe horn it into the 58.
