1965 Mustang Coupe
I got my 65 Mustang Coupe back yesterday (yay!). Buyer defaulted on payments for months so it has been repossessed. Needs a little bit of work. It has a straight six, gotta check intake tomorrow to see if it is a 170 or 200. I think its a 170 because of the single barrel carb. It has bondo holes all down the side of it. All of that and the rusted up metal is coming out. New metal is going in. It has all the original pony interior plus most all new pony interior. I bought the back seat covers years ago and they had been sitting in the car. Well, the mice found a nice chew toy. They left the door panels alone and chewed four giant holes in the back-rest part of the back seat. Left the bottom alone also. More to come.

Re: 1965 Mustang Coupe
Runs and drives if it had a gas tank and battery. I have to get it running so i can get it out to Dennis's to fix the rust and paint it.

The easiest way to tell a 170 from a 200 is to look at the passengers side of the block. If it has 3 freeze plugs, it is a 170. If it has 5, it is a 200. By the way, ALL of the car 6 cylinders had a single barrel carb.

Re: 1965 Mustang Coupe
Got the gas tank and sending unit in the mail a few days ago. Went and picked up a battery to see if it would turn over. Negative battery terminal is bad and positive battery cable is bad. No big deal, still got it to turn over though. Have to order my filler neck hose tomorrow. Get that and it should run.

Re: 1965 Mustang Coupe
Got it up to Dennis's, floors are rotted out. I'm not having a good car week.... The clown's who had the car before me stuffed a entire window screen up in the rocker panel and covered it with two inch thick of Bondo..... So now I have to put floors in a unibody car. So much fun.

Re: 1965 Mustang Coupe
Floors are mostly in. I still need to caulk them around the edges. The people who had this before me LOVED Bondo. I found over a pound of Bondo in the floors. They took really, really thin tin and pop riveted it in, then Bondoed over it.

Re: 1965 Mustang Coupe
As for the quarter panels, they put big dents in them and then pop riveted roofing tin over it. Then came the bondo that they barely cared to even sand down.

Re: 1965 Mustang Coupe
The original plan for this car was to fix it up and sell it so I could get money for my Camaro. I still need about two thousand to finish the Camaro the way I want it done. High performance everything. But, anyways, I think I'm going to keep both of them now. I'm going to need a daily driver so I think the straight six would be perfect. All around it just makes more sense to keep both of them. As soon as I get my license I can get a job like I was planning and get the 'Maro going pretty quick.

Re: 1965 Mustang Coupe
I bought the paint for this, a real bright pony red, planning on painting it that color to sell it quicker but if I'm keeping it I don't really want it to be that color. Gloss black, red pony interior, tinted windows is what I want. Then I have to have a stereo system. I guess I'm a disgrace to the Ford name haha.
