Chopped 64 chevy truck
Well, picked up a new toy over the weekend. It's need's some work, but has had a ton of work done to it. I was originally looking for somethin I could build from the ground up. But, I realized I don't have too much free time to do it. Here's the specs;
64' chevy 1/2 ton that's been chopped ~5-6 inches
350 with a gear drive, cam, shorty headers, new deomon carb on a high rise intake.
350 turbo with a shift kit, slap shifter
The diff is open, maybe a limited slip. Both wheels spin the tires and it'll go sideways shiftin into 2nd, but i jacked it up, and it isn't locked. Not sure on the gear ratio yet, but it seams to be a pretty low gear.
The windhshield is lexan, and I plan to cut some glass for it. Also, the door glass needs to be cut.
I got a bunch of airride stuff with the truck. Tank, compresor, solenoids, random brackets, 4 bags, bunch of wiring and airlines. I plan to install airride and a wood bed. I'll update this thread as I make progress. For now, I plan to drive the truck until that snow starts to fall, then I'll get busy fixin a little bit of rust and POR-15 the frame and underside of the bed.
A few pics to show you how I got it.....

Re: Chopped 64 chevy truck
Gettin new door glass This saturday. I've already ordered a new windshield and found a glass shop that will cut it. I figured for ~$100 it wasn't worth trying to cut it myself. I'll make a template and mark the windshield and drop it off to them.
Then, I'd like to install the airride. I have just about everything I need for it. I'm kinda debating on how much to notch the frame. I'm not too much into the whole "layin frame" thing and I "do" want a bed floor and i defenitely don't want it raised too high. As the truck sits now, the axle is on the bump stops keeping it from contacting the frame.
After that, I'd like to put a bed floor in it. I'm not certain, but I'll probably go with wood.
I plan to atleast preasure wash the frame and hit it with a wire wheel, then some POR-15. I could possibly pull the cab off and sand blast the frame, but I dunno if I wanna get "that" involved in it right now. I've also got a two-wheeled project goin on, http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/showthread.php?t=147423
There is a very small amount of rust that needs attention on the rocker and also a small area under the cab.
Other than that, I don't really know what direction it will take. It will stay flat black atleast till next spring, and likely for a long time. I'll probably put some baby moons and whitewalls on it. I need a much wider rear tire. Eventually, she'll need some help in the interior dept.
Anyone get's too bored, they can come help.....

Re: Chopped 64 chevy truck
This was taken by me at the Blacktop Bash right before you got your truck. If you watch real close, you can hit pause your truck is sitting in the lot. Right when the T bucket almost gets off the screen you will see it. Man that was a good show....

Re: Chopped 64 chevy truck
yep, that's her. I found a sign under the seat of the truck for some body shop. I'm gonna try to look them up, maybe they are the one who did the chop.......

This is the name of the shop sign I found under my seat,
Maish Body Shop

Anyone heard of them? I wonder if it's possible they chopped my truck. I'd like to find out as much info as I can.

Re: Chopped 64 chevy truck
I wasn't expecting to, but I had an "extra" 3-4 hours today, and so I decided to work on the truck.
I pulled the bed off, took a wire wheel and flap disc to the rear of the frame, and coated it with some Zinc Rich primer. Since I'll be airbaggin it sometime soon, I'll pull the bed back off, do the airbag work, then finish painting the rear of the frame. I just wanted to get it cleaned up. And, this gave me a chance to take care of some surface rust on the bed, and put some new bolts in the bed so I could tighten them up and get rid of the bed rattle noises.......Next time I pull the bed off, I'll flip it over and clean it up as well as rust proof it.
Although not too exciting, a few pics....
