I know all of us have car addictions, mine has moved to smaller toys...garden tractors. I bought another over the weekend, makes me 9 I think, maybe 10.
Guy was tired of it in his barn, was going to scrap it. I gave him $75 for it and he even trucked it over from Indy yesterday and dropped off at a friend's house since he was coming over for a grad party. Needs some work to get it running but it maybe an easy restore as it's in great shape or I may turn it from some $$$ once running.
1975 Wheelhorse B-80, came with snow blade too.

I have a fleet of late 60s to early 70s Sears custom series lawn tractors that I use every week,I have two for lawn duty and one with a plow for snow removal and have a snowblower that can be used on the 10 HP models. Does it have Tecumseh cast iron motor or a Kolher.

Yea, I watch your threads on MTF.
This has a Kohler K181, 8 Hp, Supposedly still all original, but PO said it smokes. I am picking up tractor today so guess I'll find out.
I know motors are pretty same theory, but I've only dealt with Tecumsehs with SSI ignition, this Kohler is new to me and has points. My Fleet is also pretty much all Sears suburbans, '64-'77,  other than my Massey and AC HB212.

I would like to find a early to mid 70s suburban to use in the yard,I am trying to get away from the ones with the starter/generator due to the expense of the early SSI systems. Both of the custom 10s I use for mowing are the 71 and up with the starter and the 69 with the starter/generator has the snow plow on it,I only have one extra early SSI system and noticed they go way more then the 50 dollars I paid for the last one so the 69 is not going to be used as much.

Yea, understand on the SSI deal almost all my Sears has it. You can't get away from it though in the 70's models unless you get a twin Onan 73 and up. All the Singles were Tecumsehs with the SSI modules, but there is plenty of newer updated retrofit ignition you can use.
If your interested, I have 72 Suburban 15. IT has the S/G  with points only made in 72. It's all complete, the S/G needs put back on , but it's very rough and kind of rusty, but make you a good deal on it. I bought with a package of other tractors and have no mind to get it running. Been hard not to start stripping since it's a complete tractor.

Got the Wheel horse today, was actually able to get it to spin over, has weak spark but won't fire. Gonna clean all connections and clean/re-gap points and see what happens.

Jeff, yes it does have the B & S, points style, starter/gen, updraft carb. I got it in a package deal with some other tractors, didn't really want it. The PO took off starter to get it fixed, but never put it back on so it's still off. He bought it as a project also, but just stored in the barn, only got starter fixed. It feels to have decent compression turning over by hand, but I have not tried to put it back togther and start it. If I do and it runs, I would be pulling motor to go onto my Allis project, just hate to part a 1 yr only complete tractor. Someone painted it green at one point, a lot of it is flaking off, complete gas system would need over hauled, lines, filter, maybe new tank too. Hood is pretty rusted/rough, but I have a buddy in Eaton who may still have a good one. It's a pretty rough/rusty tractor, but still complete, get it running and just work it or then maybe restore?????
I can get $50 at scrap yard, if you want it..... $50 and come get it out of my sight:lol:

I started getting into vintage garden tractors in the last year or so. I've seen some of the first cub cadets turned into tricycle front ends.

A friend has a few of those B/S motors so if it needs any parts I have a source,I have always wanted a larger suburban and should cut the mowing time down in the yard since that have a larger deck. I presume it does not have a deck and will have to start looking for one but will use it for a yard mule until a deck is found.

He may have some custom parts too, not sure.

Worked on old Wheel horse last night, threw a good battery in her, cleaned/re-gapped points, fresh gas and the ole girl fired up immediately. Didn't have to worry about the mosquitoes, but as I let it run, smoke got less and less to lamsot no smoking. Did a little carb adjustment and it runs pretty well for sitting in a barn for at least 6 -7 yrs, who knows before that even. Drove around yard, not as fast as my Sears, but little workhorse. I plan on doing a repaint, but not a restore, you guys will like it, I have a scroungers style redo in mind Very Happy

Jeff, I "may be" heading to Dayton area sometime on Saturday, Trotwood actually. If you definitely want this tractor, let me know, I will toss on the trailer and meet up with you or drop off if you are on the west side somewhere.

The server we use has been changing stuff around. I have been waiting until they are all done so I can figure out how to get the forum back to how it use to be. Some things are a little goofy right now. Just bare with us.

I fired up the suburban tonight and it runs good,I could not get it to fire using a rope so I hooked up the generator and dumped gas in the carb and it fired right up,the gas tank was shot but had one in stock so I hooked it up and let it run for about 45 minutes. I am going to fire it up again later this week and change the oil then it will probably sit until I get the rest of the parts I need,I just wanted to hear it run before spending any money on it.
