Ranchero Tear down
Started tear down of my 64' Ranchero tonight.
Found a few rust spots that were hidden.Nothing too bad.Took Interior out, engine and transmission out.
Testing my scrounging skills here,Let me know if I qualify.
Ranchero free to haul off.Originally a 4 speed. Now has 302 with an automatic.
New starter,battery,solenoid-$165,Installed and it ran great!wanted it to be a staright shift again,so started the search for a 4 speed.Found a cpl.Had them in shop, but didnt install.
Looked at my son's '85 Mustang Gt,thought about a 5 speed swap,so the search was on.
Found a Wrecked 1985 'Stang donor car-$750
Tow bill for wrecked stang-$65
Stripped engine,transmission,pedals,cables,cross member,radiator.
Total cost $980
Sold wrecked stang remains for $500
Total cost$480 to date.
Does scrounging get any better than this?!!!

It's hard to say since we redone the forum. It may be out of wack. The server reset almost all the settings. I will look when I get a chance but if you can't wait you can send them to the club's email and someone can post them up. Scroungers_CC@yahoo.com

Now how can you collect the mandatory, huge pile of perfectly good parts that I might use some day if you keep giving stuff away?

I can save it for you if need be!I had rather someone use it than it collect dust.
Im trying to pay it forward.Seems like I have been blessed lately with parts and good friends when I needed them.

I want to,But they will hit the calipers I have.
I cut an Explorer Rear end to use.It has disc.
I made brackets to use Cobra Mustang disc on front, they will hit too.
I have some Boss338 rims I got from an impound car. They are 18's.I may use them if they dont scrub.

This little rig sounds like a really cool project the more you talk about it.

I hope it turns out like my deviated mind has it pictured!
Had to lose the original seats today. My nephew wants them for his 38 Plymouth.I figured since its not an original car,I would use some 6 way leather seats I have out of a new Accord.I will remove the head rest, but leave the rest intact and wire in all power to them.

Re: Ranchero Tear down
Helping each other out goes a long ways too. I think I as well as many on here know that. Time and time again the guys here have helped me out in times of need on my projects and vice versa. It's like a giant hot rod karma factory.JESTER64 wrote:
