Re: 27 model T sedan
OH yhea here we go a wrestling match between Steve and I over this one...This will be good 2 chevy guys fighting over a Ford that will get som shit stirring... Atleast we both know that it will have a Chevy for a power plant...
Re: 27 model T sedan
I'll get pics sat afternoon and send them to you guys sat night. I'm traveling about 15 miles north of cincy to pick up a truck. A buddy is going to drive his truck since dad has the truck that I pull the trailer with.
I know it needs the bottom door skins and the bottom of the door frame. I looked on Mac Auto Parts and all the parts that are needed come in pairds. Price is not that bad either. $30 for a pair of cowl patch panels and something like $45 for door bottoms.

Thats why they say i got that great GM feeling it means great mistake. You guys are wiseing up

Re: 27 model T sedan
I think if you are to do a traditional rod you should probably use a flathead or old Olds or Caddy or some obscure piece of crap like that. You have to be true to the code. Thought I'd show you a mockup of my neighbor's Rat. He's the one I gave my DVD about the 17 hr build at Via Las Vegas (Man he loved it). He's into this Rat (Traditional) stuff big time at the moment. He plans on making his own frame, has an old banjo Ford rear, 39 Ford transmission with a shortened torque tube drive. He plans on taking 7" out of the top, made the blower intake, the 2 x 2 carb intake, all the pulleys and the idler system. He's going to run a fresh 283, has Buick drums fitted with Ford hubs. Seems to think he'll be able to get it in the 100 Car Pileup with all the homegrown billet on the motor. Plans to drive it to the Rumble. Probably shouldn't do this to this thread but just wanted to share the pics. The car is going to be a top notch Rat. Just a little something to spur you Kats on and buy Juncky's piece.
So, you too can start a project like this!!! Not my cup of tea but a neat Hot Rod non the less.

Re: 27 model T sedan
Didn't want to take over this thread by any means but Harold's Hot Rod is just too cool. He's done all the machine work himself. I just have been waiting for a good time to share. Nothing like a blown Rat. It's only a 4-71 but it'll probably blow that thing apart.

Re: 27 model T sedan
Me likey, pretty cool I personaly think he should atleast do the body to a certain degree..I'm not into the rusty look..Just my stinky opinion....The Pile up has been pretty strict the past few years..Kevin Thompson of Thompsons Garage was telling me that the "inspector's" were tossing cars left and right, because they did'nt think it was "traditional" enough regardless of how cool.Sorry for the High Jack...
Re: 27 model T sedan
Just my opinion please don't but traditional and rat rod together. They are not the same. Rat rods are a phase like billet and pastel color rods. Traditional rods will be cool forever because they are timeless. There is nothing traditional about a rat rod.

Re: 27 model T sedan
I agree. I don't like rat rods. even though my 36 Chevy is rusty I don't call it a rat. maybe a jolapy but not a rat. to me these guys build these rats for shock value. they are for the most part unsafe junk and undrivable for long drives. with the 36 having a modern frame and me welding more bracing than a bidge in it. I think it would hold up better to a wreck than a new car. my 34 Dodge is on the rough side but thats because I haven't finished it yet. I get bent when someone calls it a rat rod. it may not be too traditional with the radials and some other things but to me it just my hot rod. one thing I always wondered about these rat rod guys that have no floors in them. I wonder if they ever get hit from something off the freeway at 55 MPH in the face or body?fuel10922 wrote:Just my opinion please don't but traditional and rat rod together. They are not the same. I imagine you need to go to the rule book. I'm sure someone can straighten you out on this. They may not be on this forum but they know the rules. My neighbor says he's not going to paint his but I know he will. He's already talking of cutting the body up when he chops it so he can square eveything up from years of setting around and from previous repairs. I figure the least he'll do is suede paint it.
