Engine Mock up ?????
As many of you know we are going to start back on the Falcon, for one I'm stoked. My Question is when we set the motor in what degree of tilt to set the motor at, for the life of me cannot remember (my mind is clouded by to much malted hop's and bong resin, kid's don't do drug's uhm kay)what degree I set mine at in my Chevy II I am thinking it was either 3 or 5 degree's.. Doe's anybody know for sure????

Re: Engine Mock up ?????
I'm just anal about this stuff, not sure if it makes a huge difference or if I just like to use my protractor, and sound all edjumacated when I talk about howz I do's stuff..lloooollllll
Re: Engine Mock up ?????
I was talking to JunkYard Jeff this weekend. He's trying to get the pinion angle on his rearend correct. I think he said that his transmission was at 3 degrees. He went and bought one of those fancy protractors to check it. I don't know if that's what they are supposed to be. You might want to message him to see.

Re: Engine Mock up ?????
When I redid the rear in my Plymouth years ago 3 degree's is what I set the pinion at as well, but for some reason I was thinking 5 is what the engine get's set at. The one of the reason's for slight angles on the rears and trans and such is so the bearing's in the universals don't burn up.
Re: Engine Mock up ?????
It'll probably be hard to eyeball it in that Falcon since the front sits so high. Running a Chevy you just have to make sure it has a little slope down in the back because to the rear oil pickup, don't you?

Re: Engine Mock up ?????
Yhea that is the reason for the tilt in the Chev, Unless it is in an early V-8 Chev II because they have a front sump because of the steering set-up...For some reason I still think I set it at 5 degree's, hell that was many years and build's ago...
Re: Engine Mock up ?????
i got a angle finder at the garage i beleave that the tranny should be -3 and the rearemd should be +3 i think i will try and find out ..... but it has been awhile or it could be vise versa ....lol

Re: Engine Mock up ?????
Well if the tran's is neg 3 then the engine would be at the same plain right....I guess the degree depend's on which side of the car your standing on to get either +3 or -3..lol So lets just say tilted to the rear 3 degree's, damn I should have not slept thru math class in school....
Re: Engine Mock up ?????
As far as the engine goes, the easy way to do it is put the intake on and make the carb mounting surface level. The intake already has the proper angle built into it, so if the carb is level then the rest will follow suit at the proper angle...
