BE THERE or well you know...

Event Schedule

We have a fantastic Schedule of Events planned for the FCA Falcon's Fantastic 50th 2010 National Convention here in our southeast Michigan home. Of course, you are encouraged to completely immerse yourself in all things Falcon and stay at the Dearborn Hyatt Regency Hotel. Other options we have arranged, include events on Ford Motor Company property, escaping to The Henry Ford, touring the Fairlane Estate, visiting the Automotive Hall of Fame, or hitting the casinos. The car show will take place on Saturday with voting occurring from 10:00am to 1:00pm.
Below are the "highlights" of our schedule. To see more detail of our "tentative" schedule click here:

2010 National - Events Schedule

Wednesday July 14th - Early Arrivals

Thursday July 15th - See the Sights

(Please review the "Local Attractions" page for some of the many options available.)
Thursday Morning, we'll be leading two separate groups from the Hyatt parking lot to preferred parking at The Henry Ford. The first group will depart the Hyatt around 8:30 AM, and the second group will leave around 10:00 AM. We have identified a parking area that we'll have individuals monitor throughout the day near the Greenfield Village. The Henry Ford is a must see while in the Dearborn area!

Tickets for activities at The Henry Ford can be purchased in advance on their website or when you arrive on their grounds. Please see their great website (click on the Local Attractions above) for their current event schedule.

Thursday Evening around 6:30 PM, plan to join Naomi & Carl Henderson along with Pam & Jim Clements who are sponsoring the Ice Cream Social in the Hyatt parking lot. This is always a huge hit and a great way to meet up with those friends who have arrived throughout the day and to meet new Falcon folks!
A big Thank You goes to Carl & Naomi and Jim & Pam for treating us to a "build your own" ice cream sundae!

Friday July 16th - Ford Test Track Drive

On Friday, we'll begin with a tour of Ford's Dearborn Development Center which includes the Test Track facility... and we'll be driving our Falcons on the track. Participation is limited to 200 Falcons in two waves of 100. Invitations to participate will be extended in 2010 National Convention registration number order.
Click on the following link to download the required waiver form to attend the Ford Test Track event on Friday, July 16. Each person in your Falcon must complete this form: Ford Test Track Waiver.pdf
To reserve your place in line, this waiver form must be completed and returned to Alan Aniol (15405 Dondero, Southgate, MI 48195) along with a $10 check (per Falcon) made payable to JDRF. All funds collected are being donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
July 1 Cut-off All waivers and checks for the Test Track event must be received by July 1. On July 1 we will begin allocating any open positions for this event to Falcon owners with registration numbers over 200 (in registration number order), who have already sent in their waiver and $10 check to JDRF. If you are not selected to attend this event, your $10 check will be returned to you at the Convention.

Also on Friday, for those not going to the Ford Test Track, a group will be taking a leisurely ride through a beautiful Metro Park setting to visit the Roush Automotive Collection.
This is a private showing of Jack Roush's collection in their 30,000 sq ft facility and has been set up for the registered guests of the 2010 National Falcon Convention. The collection consists of a wide variety of displays, multi-media exhibits, artifacts, memorabilia and over 100 vehicles dedicated to the preservation of the heritage of Roush Enterprises... it's everything "Jack Roush"!

Friday Afternoon, the Hyatt chefs will be grilling lunch in the parking lot for purchase.

Friday Early Evening, the FCA's own Dale Holland will be presenting from 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM, a never before event at a National Convention... it's a Valve Cover Racing Clinic for all kids! Dale will be showing how to build your very own Valve Cover Race Car in his Swap Space in the parking lot. This is a "hands-on" race car building session, so be sure to attend. Of course, all young and "older kids" are invited. All you need to do is bring your own valve cover and contact Steve Swierlik at (313-971-6619) to reserve a race car "kit". If you've never been involved in the Valve Cover Races, you're missing a lot of fun... so you won't want to miss this year's races on Saturday!

Friday Night, in the parking lot, will be an "old time" double feature Drive-In Movie. The first showing is a yet-to-be-chosen movie that targets the younger audience and is scheduled to start at dusk... or around 9:00 PM.
The second showing is a movie that follows Eric Bana on an emotional journey from inside his race car to the surreal world of the red carpet as he learns what it means to keep your dreams alive. The movie features Jay Leno, Jeremy Clarkson, "Dr. Phil" McGraw and one very special '74 Ford XB Falcon GT coupe. This movie is titled "Love The Beast" and is as full of heart and the defining moments in life as it is about driving fast... really fast. This is an incredible movie that you won't want to miss!

Saturday July 17th - The Big Show

Saturday Morning
"Dearborn Classics Tech Session" will be conducted Saturday morning, by our own (BEEP) Harrington, in the Hyatt parking lot beginning at 8:30 AM. You may recall from lasts year's Mason Dixon National Convention in Dover, he shared with us how to upgrade from that single bowl brake master cylinder that most of us have a standard equipment, to a much "safer" dual bowl master cylinder. And at last year's Niagara Falls Regional, (BEEP) showed us how to overcome that often brutal chore of filling your Falcon's fuel tank by converting the original filler tube to a newer design.
This year, (BEEP) will be showing us how to convert that often pesky points and condenser set up to a new Pertronix electronic ignition system. So, for those who have considered making the switch, but were a bit reluctant, here is your chance to see the entire process performed... and possibly on your Falcon!
For those wanting to "buy" a chance (or two, or more) to have this conversion performed on your Falcon, we will be conducting a raffle to select the Falcon to receive this upgrade during the tech session. Upon your arrival, look for the "Dearborn Classics Tech Session Raffle" opportunity in the registration area in the Hyatt. The winner of the raffle drawing will receive a Petronix kit (both a 6 cylinder and an 8 cylinder kit will be on hand... courtesy of our friends at Dearborn Classics) installed on Saturday morning!
So, be sure to look for this raffle opportunity when you arrive at the Hyatt, and be sure to plan on joining (BEEP) Harrington in the parking lot Saturday morning... it is sure to be a great session!

Also, Saturday Morning the Voting begins in the parking lot at 10:00 AM and ends at 1:00 PM, so make sure your Falcon is all washed, detailed and polished before 10:00 AM!
Categories are listed below and the definitions can be seen by clicking here: Category Definitions
1. Stock
2. Daily Driver
3. Lite Modified
4. Diamond in the Rough
5. Modified
6. Masters
7. Display
The Masters and Display categories are display only, non-voting groups, consisting of past "Best of Show" winners and other exceptional cars honored previously, it is also for those owners who do not wish to have their Falcon voted on.

Additionally, on Saturday Morning, beginning at 11:30 AM, in the Great Lakes Center Foyer of the Hyatt, the official 2010 FCA Valve Cover Racing begins! The race track will be awaiting all Valve Cover racers inside the beautiful Hyatt Regency. All participants need to bring their Valve Cover race cars and be ready to compete in either the Men's, Women's, Youth or Chapter classes. The races are scheduled to begin at 11:30 AM... SHARP!
You don't want to miss seeing those "brand new" race cars built under the guidance of Dale Holland at his Friday night "Build Clinic" in the parking lot!
Will last year's winners be able to win deep in "Ford Country"? Or will one of the "Rookies", from Dale Holland's Build Clinic, take the awards this year? Be sure to come see the outcome of the 2010 Valve Cover Races!

Saturday Afternoon the Hyatt chefs will be grilling lunch in the parking lot for purchase.

Also Saturday Afternoon, in the parking lot, Michigan's own Hudsonville Ice Cream Company will be providing the best ice cream you've ever tasted (at no charge). Be sure to stop by their truck for your "after-lunch treat"!

Additionally, on Saturday Afternoon, the "All Member Business Meeting"begins at 2:00 PM Saturday afternoon. This is the only all member meeting the FCA holds each year to discuss with members the progress your club is making. It is also a great opportunity to provide feedback to the FCA Officers. Plan your schedule to attend this year's meeting!
