Re: 1958 bel air (formely know as clara bel
There is no snake in it. It would have moved out when we towed it. Even if there was it would be a black snake. They won't bite ya. That one we pulled out of the Bird was a big one. It looped through the cowl and into the car. close to 6 feet. That's pretty bug for a black snake. I only seen one bigger than that about 20 years ago out at the property. I hacked it's head off.

Re: 1958 bel air (formely know as clara bel
will i was working under the dash i hooked up the toogle switch for the electric fuel pump, wired up my gauges, and took the front dash speaker out and put in a polk audio 6x9. it wasnt just a direct placement i had to do a little fab work to sit the speaker down in there. it still did not fit from down in from the top so i bolted it from the bottom. i couldnt resist from hearing what it sounds like so i hooked it up so the garage stereo and man that thing screams.

Re: 1958 bel air (formely know as clara bel
one step forward and two steps back.
a few days ago i poured some anti freeze in the radiator and it was pouring out of the bottom ? got up set and headed back up stairs . went back out the last night and the freaken peecock was loose lol.
tonight i was out there put the oil filter on it and poured some oil down in it. i made a oil pump primer out of an old dist. and now i have front knock coming out of the timing cover.not sure what the deal is but i came in for the night. this sat im gonna get back on it. any one have any ideas what it could be. someone told me tonight that the cam could have possible frooze to the bearing. i'm pretty peed off about it so by sat i should be calmed down. but its all part of hot rodding i suppose

pulled the plugs. turned over 3 or 4 full rotations. wired the alternator up, wired the starter up, finished up with the key switch. got the back door opened. not much left to get running...

Re: 1958 bel air (formely know as clara bel
well go fiqure but my $30.00 worth of motor oil is all over the floor in the garage. wth. when it rains it pours. i noticed a small leak coming from the drain plug so i tighten it i assumed that would stop the leak, then thats when i decided to buy a new one to have in stock just in case. i went back out the next day and all of my lucas motor oil was on the floor. this car is tryen to tell me something. its gotta be cursed, again maybe its the garage. i have no clue.
I also got under the car and put the tranny mount on the tranny and installed the cross member. the bolts that go through the cross member into the mount dont line up at all? Im wondering if i turned the cross member the other way it would line up that way. i dont think it will make a difference but i'm try it and see.
Like i already said, when it rains it pours .

Re: 1958 bel air (formely know as clara bel
So I went out to the garage yesterday evening and decided i would switch out that oil pan bolt.... I drained the new oil into a clean bucket and took out the bolt with what was left of the washer. I went to install the one that advance sold me and it wasnt the right size... the old one that i pulled has been cross threaded.
What do i do know...
Use the old one with a new washer
Buy the right one and use it.
replace the oil pan....
Opinions Needed.
