Say I was wanting to turn the '59 into a gasser truck... would I just raise the front end up with longer shackles since it has the single I beam?

Was wanting to lower it but the oil pan on the 429 is so close to the beam right now with the stock suspension that I cannot unless I buy a dropped beam and then I'm limited after that.

Put the axle under the springs and put blocks between the springs and the axle.

The axle is already under the springs but as I was looking at it, I noticed some different looking u-bolts that I'm not sure if they sell different lengths of these to be able to put blocks under it. This is why I was thinking they did the shackles.

You can go down 4" with a dropped axle. You will also need tie rod drops to go with it. As far as raising it, the axle is already under the spring in stock configuration. Longer shackles will not work - It will change your caster angle and handling will go all to hell. You could block it a bit, but if the stock springs are in good shape you should be close to the proper stance anyway. Have any leaves been removed to get it lower? I don't know if you saw the pics I posted on the other board, but here's some inspiration...

To my knowledge, all the leaf springs are still intact. And the rear end is sitting up just where I want it. When you say "block it a bit", how much are you talkin? Don't forget, if it makes a difference, there is a toyota power steering pump on it. I believe I saw a '60 F100 gasser that he mentioned putting lift springs under the front from a Jeep. Know anything about this?
