Bad timing!!!!! Empty Bad timing!!!!!

Post by magicman_1968 December 16th 2009, 12:39 am

My 1 ton has had a little vibration going on somewhere in the drivetrain for about 2 weeks now. I thought it was something to do with my clutch or preasure plate because i could feel it in the cluth pedal when i push in on it. Well today i started checking it out and noticed an oil leak developing at the balancer seal. I grabbed the balancer and could shake it up and down! The bolts where tight so i figured i would pull the balancer and find the keyway messed up and the balancer needing replace. WORSE!!!! I could move the front of the crank up and down and in and out! It has good oil press. and no knocks. I think the crank has broken toward the front but some how still spinning every thing together. Ive seen them break and tear a bunch of crap up but this will be interesting to see when i pull it apart. Bad thing is i have to drive the Velle to work and back untill i get it back together. I'm hoping to just flip it over on a stand and put a new crank in it without pulling the heads and pulling the pistons out. We will see.... Very Happy

Lol! Yea I did, I figured if I could drive it home at 70 mph with a broken crankshaft, then with a new one back in there It would be a keeper. I will remain a loyle Chevy guy. It will make a good conversation piece on the shelf with the years of boken rods, melted pistons, busted 4-speed bellhousings (clutch explosions),broken axles, and whatever else got tore up. But look at all the fun we had! Lol
