JBS10, Johnny's 51 Chevy Pick~'em up project

j b come get theese part off my truck cuz cab is comeing off my 48 and going on s10 friday

Johnny got bit by the hot rod bug after being at the Pumpkin Run and wanted to work on his 51. Jeff was cool enough to grab it with the roll back.

For a few minutes I though we were going to need a tow rig for the tow rig.



After a little bit of tinkering we was moving again.

We had to toss some tires on the back and other than trying to steer without a steering wheel and it dragging the ground going up it was an easy grab.

Even with over half the body gone it still has a cool look to it.

Just like the Willie Nelson song goes, On the road again. Just can't wai....



Johnny had to grab a battery to get the air bags pumped up. The truck was stuck. lol

51 safe and sound back at home.


The rest of the night was spent yanking the drivetrain out of the S10 so it can go in the 51.

Johnny did you get the front shocks on? The cherry picker is sitting here if you want to grab it. Or we can grab the engine from down the street and stick it in the 51 pretty quick.

got a seat from chucks today mock up the wheel hope to get the breaks stated this week end.. whent to all 3 parts stores looking 4 shocks w/and 8in strok and no luck if you walk in and tell them u need shocks 4 a 50chevy on s10 frame.with air ride.all i get is hu

man looking back i got this truck in 08. man u talk about slow.

She's making progress. That's all that counts.

got some work done got the steering figured out still got some work left

front brackets figured for shocks had to move them do to the airbags out still gatta figgure out the back ones the chassies done- hope to have it done by 2018

Do ya still need them headers or do you have a set already....

I snapped some pics last time I was at Johnny's. He started stripping the paint.

Shock mounts are mocked up/

been getting a little work done got the shock monts welded up and done ...today cut some rust out of the floors...hope to have them all pached up by the end of the week....

Yeah, but he cheated. He left the hardware in place so he could still stick 'em on there if he needed to. I've seen some fantastic stuff fabricated by hotrodders. It's hard for me to believe someone hasn't made a setup that closes to hide wipers and tilts open if you need them. A purist look with an admission that we don't all live in the California desert.
