Floors were shot. Nothing fancy just patching them up. It's going to be a daily beater not a show queen.

Cut it out one piece at a time and weld in new stuff.

Cutting and cutting and more cutting.

The car sits low and will be lower but the old owner didn't seem to mind the driveshaft rubbing the tunnel and under the seat. it was bad enough that it heated the metal and was pushing through.

Earl got all the rust out and new panels spot welded in. He then cleaned up the entire floor with a wire wheel and cleaned it all out. Since Earl doesn't get home until after 5 from work he doesn't have a lot of time. He spent many nights with a house lamp in the car so he could see.

Time to keep that rust from never coming back. The floor and truck was painted.

Then on to the sound deadening and heat matting. This stuff is tough as can be but once it's on the car you are leaving it there unless you cut the metal out with it. Heated with a heat gun to get the tar hot and once it's down it's DOWN! It's funny what a difference it makes in the car. Takes out the hollow sound and hold out the heat and road noises.

After showing Earl how to find TDC with a shop rag stuck in the number one hole we found out the dizzy was 180 out and the wired the car not in firing order but 12345678. Very Happy

We wired it up right and with a little gas in the carb she started right up. No knocks, ticks or smoke. Hopefully the trans is in good shape.

He also got the engine bolted down. It was just sitting there and some other small things done. Broken window out of the door, back bumper was beat back in shape, installed a cool battery try, started on the mess of wiring and more.

Earl is looking for a cheap fuel cell or spun aluminum gas tank local if anyone has anything. Needs to be no less than 10 gallons.

I went yesterday to Jack's Glass with some old busted up door glass. They were able to use it as a template for Earl's two front doors. The felt in the doors are gone so he's stopping over at the hot rod shop in Burlington, Ky to grab some after work.
