66 Merc Comet
Went today to look at a 66 Merc Comet. Price was $6500 on it, it is obviously a NY car, lots of rust damage in the front and rear subframe attachments, where all the strength is supposed to be. At least somebody in the past had the basic know-how to weld in some square tubing to hook the front and rear subs together to keep this thing from folding up. Lots of plastic in the quarters. It is probably a salvageable car, even though it has the type of frame repair I just explained. But it seems that it will require more time than I am willing to put into it. One of the high points of the car is that it has a fresh 390 and C-6, plus it has the Cyclone glass hood. The guy represented it quite well over the phone, but you just never know till you go look. The owner is kinda against the wall financially, and needs a quick sale to get some bills paid, but I think I will stick to my decision and follow my head, and not my heart. Somewhere I'll find a cyclone or fairlane with my name on it, that needs a 428CJ. Keep on looking.

Dad was a 66 comet that needs a new home but its a 4dr.
I have a 4 speed trans from a 67-69 fairlane that won't be used anytime soon.

I never liked them back in the day but with all the econo boxes that run around on the streets the later 60 and early 70's big cars are growing on me. I'd like to have one.

At least it's not a formal roof. S'got potential, a bit of a haul from NY, but there's nothing decent here anymore anyway. Have to give it some thought- it will likely be gone by the time I get around. Thanks.
