How do you have time to work on that truck with all the protesting that's going on up there?

Re: 52 Ford F-1 Pickup Project
Protesting up here? When are they not protesting.... Just another day.
Hope to be bringing it into trans shop Monday to get the kickdown set. Still need to get the passenger door back on and get the windshield in before then.. Have a buddy coming over Sunday from college to help me get some loose ends done before it is speeding down the road.

I guess I have become used to it working downtown at the Federal Building, always something going on.

Re: 52 Ford F-1 Pickup Project
Annnddd... I am under my own power. Think I slept through the whole night with a smile on my face after finally driving it, albeit not far without the front section on.
Engine sounds even better under load than it did running it to set the cam and all that... I am guessing a rev limiter is in my future, along with some rear tire wear...
Will try to get a video this weekend, not making it home from work before dark lately.

Re: 52 Ford F-1 Pickup Project
Outstanding! So cool to see it out and about. Anything that needs additional attention or is it all working as it should so far?
Later,
Lee
P.S. Are you running a full set of gauges or just the basics and 'idiot' lights?

Re: 52 Ford F-1 Pickup Project
I have basic gauges but not a tach at the moment. (Fuel, volt, oil, coolant, speedo). Was running 2 sets of oil and coolant but i am coming around to trusting the electronic ones.
Still need to set speedo, and want to re fabricate the brake pedal, but mechanically it is doing great. Drove it around for a few hours and it stayed cool (albeit we are not in summer temps).
Pretty happy with it so far.

That's cool. Glad that it's running and driving good for you. If you have good-quality gauges and sending units the electrical units work just fine in my experience. I'm running a mechanical oil pressure gauge on my 'vette but I got the gauge for free so I spent the money on AutoMeter's braided line and fittings. No way I'm using a plastic piece of hose to the gauge.
Keep us posted!
