Kits for Kids....An Idea Empty Kits for Kids....An Idea

Post by falconwagon62 September 20th 2012, 4:37 am

I talk to Reb months ago about this, my biggest fear is some will take them right down to Richwood Flea Market and sell them, but after much thought and prayer, I have decided that better that I do right by my heart, than worry about the wrong that MIGHT happen......

Idea: I have a BUNCH of miss matched hand tools, wrenches, screw drivers and some basic sockets....as I am sure you all do as well.....

Have a referall, some "kid" you know of who shows intrest in keeping the old cars going, maybe, just starting on an old Mini Bike or what ever, but who can not afford the basic of basic stuff, I will assemble a small tool kit, and give it to them, and maybe mentor them along a bit, most of us, can do thing with our hands that other people wish they could do, God given talent, maybe, mine was born of poverty, my dad had no cash, but he had a brain, and he past his knowledge of thinking to me, I have taken no formal classes, was taught by old guys, and I want to pass this on......maybe even contacting VoTech schools for names of kids who's families can not afford the kits for class....(a bigger under taking)

Now What do YOU think........I think we are all here for another purpose, it's time to give back, and help keep this hobby I love so much, and have met some of the nicest people, and if we don't teach the next, our hobby is doomed to failure........

That does sound great I have a few contacts in our area that have the resources to give us names or where to send them. Give me a couple of day to talk to these people.
We could at least give it by Christmas.
