Hidden 10 feet from the road!
I've driven by here for 20 years and never saw this. I usually go this way on the scooter in the summer when the leaves are out.

Man, that looks to be an old dirt track racer. Bill needs that for his collection of 40's.

Yep. The roll cage and nerf bars are a dead giveaway. Any idea on who owns the property? Would be nice to know if it could be purchased...

Gee, you can't believe her. She's not the boss. You only have one coupe and three sedans, right? That's an even number and an odd person needs an odd number of those old things. Besides, that old thing would look good with your name painted on the roof and some crossed flags on the door with the number 98 on it. (Please don't let your wife see this. )

As everyone knows, the husband is the head of the house.
Unfortunately the wife is the neck, and as everyone knows the neck turns the head anyway it wants to.

Re: Hidden 10 feet from the road!
Well, I found out who owns the property. Been trying to contact them. Finally talked to them today. At first the lady just thought I was a scrapper looking for junk. After I convinced her I was interested in the car as a project , she told me something about it. First thing was.........are you ready?..........Her daddy raced that car back in the 50's and there is no way she could bear to part with it. He raced it at a wildcat track down here. They had three classes. One was Open. Overhead valves and anything you wanted to the engine but everyone ran the same carb and stock exhaust manifolds. One was Modified. Anything goes flatheads. The third sounds the most fun. They called it the claim class. Anything, I mean anything, went. The catch was, after you won three races, anyone could walk up with $100.00 cash and "claim" your car.
She was pretty cool to talk to but it is another one that will be loved to rust.

That's a shame, but I understand. Wouldn't hurt to check in on her from time to time, if only for the chat and companionship. You never know, one day she might decide to pass that old car on to some good hands. Even if she doesn't you have made a friend, learned a lot and preserved some cool stories!

Re: Hidden 10 feet from the road!
You gotta respect that, even though it will end up as moth fodder. Having never been on this world when my father was racing was always a disappointment to me, but- he did have the foresight when he quit racing to pull the old flathead out of the racecar. Years later, he had a 37 Ford that was topless, narrowed, channeled, the windshield frame was cut down, and it had a nailhead 401 in it. After many flathead 3 speeds went by the wayside, he decided his old flathead was going to be in it. My brother, myself, and him put that flathead in that old hotrod, complete with the 2 deuce intake. As time went by, and kids went off to school, times got tougher for a while and the car got sold. It was owned by more people in the county than Carter had liver pills. Eventually, a family friend with a body shop bought the car, pulled the race engine, sold the car without a drivetrain, and we all forgot about that old flathead. 17 years ago I stopped by his shop, inquired about the engine, and he was going to use it in his 40 ford and put it together for his oldest son. Fast forward 15 years from then- he called me one night and asked if I was still interested in the old flathead racecar engine. Of course, you know what the answer was. He informed me the engine had been away from home too long and needed to return where it belonged- at no cost to me. I tell you, that mans heart is definitely in the right place. I went over to bring 'er home, and while I was there, bought a 34 fordor from him, since I had nothing at the time to put the flattie in. One day in my life my head certainly got turned around! I couldn't have been more tickled if you had taken a feather duster to me.
