Re: what are you doing?
showed the model A to a guy, he was too fat to fit in it...WTF was he thinking......
Pulled the motor out of that ranger, getting ready to re-install, but another guy wants to see the Pontiac, so meeting him while I am out getting a few bits I'll need for the Ranger....

Had a leaky pond fixed on the place and they left the dozer here for the weekend so I hi-jacked and did a bunch of other stuff that needed doing.

Re: what are you doing?
Went to the Swap Meet in Springfield. Great weather for November which meant a good turnout for the Winter Swap. Saw some cool stuff but didn't find anything I couldn't do without. Walked for hours. Ran into lots of people I hadn't seen in a while.
Had a good day......

I can smear some bondo on a car but takes me 10 times as long to spread plaster on a wall. Doesn't make sence

Re: what are you doing?
Use a wide knife to spread the mud. Then do what I do: Run an airline into the house and use an airfile and a D/A to sand the drywall mud. It's just bodywork on a larger scale.RebStew wrote:I can smear some bondo on a car but takes me 10 times as long to spread plaster on a wall. Doesn't make sence

Use a bucket of water and a wet /damp spunge after it drys. It will get you there faster and half the mess!! ( All that dust from sanding. ) Even if it is dry for a few days you can still use a wet spunge on it and it will smooth out.

Re: what are you doing?
I have done that a few time when I didn't want the dust flying. My problem in I get in a hurry. On a car when I do bondo I put it on one time. 5 minutes and it's done. I had a pro come in the house to do some work one time and watched him. 3 days to do the work in a room but he spent maybe half hour working each day. 1 st day, mud and tape. 2nd day a second coat of mud. 3rd day was a light sanding and it was done. Easy to do if you do it like that. Just seems strange to wait 3 days. I guess I'm use to dealing with bondo buggies that are done all at one time.

Re: what are you doing?
Steve get you some EASY SAND it comes in a white bag woth blue and red writing on it.. It comes in powder form, and you mix it with water. It comes in 15, 20, 30,45 each numer indicating drying time.. I always use Easy Sand 45, gives you enough time to mix, apply and and fine tune your work.. And by the time you get your mud pan and knives clean you are ready to sand the area.. Mixing and cleaning the tools can get time consuming on bigger jobs, but if its a big jub I just use regular mud .. And you can put a box fan on your work area and it will dry faster. Never hurts to bump your heat up some also on cooler days.. If you have any questions give me a shout, this is how I make my living, I have all kinds of tips and tricks to speed up the job...
