If you are a law abiding citizen, then yes. Those 50 Cals would be really safe with me. You pull the trigger on them you are going through dollars like water through a sieve. I couldn't afford to shoot them. Razz

We can all agree to disagree. Cool
But just for the record. I think with the proper backround checks. A person should be able to have any gun they wish. We need to enforce the laws we have on the books not make more.

My fear is the rational discussion you want to have goes something like this:
Anyone that wants a gun different from the gun I think they should have is a homicidal maniac and should be stripped of their CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT to own firearms. If they don't run clapping and cheering to the local cop-shop to turn in their $1,800.00 Bushmaster or their $1,200.00 Benelli shotgun for a $200.00 WalMart gift card, they are obviously mentally incapable of understanding the nuances of the situation and must be protected from themselves by the government and president that swore to uphold the Constitution as they decide to interpret it.

That pretty much sum it up?

Why not? Devils advocate?

Really, I'm stuck in my ways and have been there for longer than most of the BS laws have been on and off the books. I don't think I'd change my mind. Very Happy

An unarmed society is a controlled society! I like making my own choices. I do not need someone else dictating what is good or bad for me and mine. I understand that people are scared of the unknown, but even passing these proposed bans will not change the unknown. If someone is hell bent on causing harm to others they will do it with or without gun bans. I personally will protect that which is dear to me with any means possible. My guns are just another tool that I use for defense and hunting. Plus it makes me smile when I hear them go boom!!!!!! Very Happy

If someone wants to get you they will. Look at all the bombing that was going on for years in Ireland. I'd rather have a gun go off and have a chance to protect myself than a 15 pound boom box go off under my table.

It is true that countries with very strict gun laws have fewer gun deaths. Even Switzerland, where every male citizen joins the national militia, is issued a firearm and trained in its proper use and care has more gun deaths than Great Britain. They have fewer gun crimes than any other European country or the US. So, we have Switzerland that has been able to hold itself firm against two World Wars by having a completely armed citizenry. One of the first things Hitler did was to enact strict gun control in Germany. The German people could then no longer protect themselves from outside aggressors or their own government. Do you think there is any country in the world that would chance invading the US with "boots on the ground" given the number of guns in the hands of the private citizens? The second amendment was given to us to assure we would be able to defend ourselves against all aggressors "foreign or domestic".

I feel like I'm rambling. scratch

NO you are not rambling! Great post! I may make people mad by what I'm going to say but think about it! We have grown soft. We have cushy jobs and think the Government will protect us from everything. I used to shoot weekly sometimes more. I have shot with ex military special ops guys and if I do say so I do pretty good. Lots of talk about scenarios come up while hanging out. One weekend the talk of how soft Americans have become. I laughed! Nah. If war was to break out you would see people react. A week later the Twin Towers were hit along with what happened to the other planes.

What could have caused this?? Dare I say?? friggin" BOX CUTTERS?? You have to be shitting me! BOX CUTTERS?????

Planes full of people sit and let themselves be killed by men with box cutters for weapons. We as Americans were herded like lambs to a slaughter house. What does this prove? We were soft. Try to hijack a plane now with a box cutter. Even an 88 year old lady will kick your (BEEP) and take that box cutter away!

As Doug said we have the right to protect ourselves. No one would step boots on this soil without a fight and they know it. Taking control of our firearms is the first step in taking every right we have. We need to stand up and not let this happen. If we do let it happen we will be our own demise. It may be soon, it may take a while but it will happen.

All the ones that are anti gun or anti assault or whatever. I bet if the shit hit the fan the first place you would go is to a friends house that were well armed and able to protect you.
