1951 mercury
Everyone knows that you need atleast 2-3 projects going at one time. .Pulled the merc in the barn and started working on it. Someone had torched all the hinges but the previous owner had bought more. Right now I'm trying to get the hinges off the doors and the car.

That thing is COOL! It sure has potential. Take 3" out of the roof, Packard tail lights, Desoto grille and Cad hub caps. Everybody's got to have a Mercury. Just ask the Dog.

Someone did it before I got the car.
I'll have to reposition the seat when I get done.

Re: 1951 mercury
Just got back. Got some progress on the merc. 4 inches vertical in the front and five in the back. On the A pillar, the slanted distance was 5 and 1/8 inches.

Re: 1951 mercury
I will probably run the flathead for a while if it runs good and doesn't have any problems. I've got a couple of olds motors setting around. I have a 371 that is complete. Just need to find some dress up parts for it.
I'll be in bg for good guys. Don't know about the other.

Re: 1951 mercury
Yeah the guy in the first pic with the black shirt on is gene winfield. In that same picture and on the right, the guy with the plaid shirt on is Dave Stuckey. The creator of lil coffin.

The second picture after that there is a guy on the left side of the picture with white and grey hair that looks to be taking a picture of the back glass area. That is carl green, the guy who rebuilt the dream truck after it was totaled in 57.

That's wild dude. I thought that was him. That Merc is a keeper for sure with the hands that worked out the roof. Pretty cool for sure.

Re: 1951 mercury
Thanks everyone. Pretty cool experience. But before it satretd someone got into my truck and stole some electronics. Sucked pretty bad.
I had some people at the worskop talk smack about my car and a few welds i did on the door hinges. But I said screw em. He all had to start someone and at one time we all new jack nothing. There is alot that needs to be done on the car. I'm trying tosell some stuff so that I can fix the merc.
Dave stuckey stode up for me. He thought it was pretty sad that people would run their mouth about the car. Plan on keeping in touch with him

Re: 1951 mercury
I've had the merc for six years now and still haven't done nothing to it. I've been wanting to fix it up but needed the room first. Sold the old combine and grain head and got a little room. Man this thing needs a lot of work and thats what been getting me down on this car. Sometimes I just want to sell it and find a nicer one. In the last couple of years I've bought a parts 49 4dr merc for the dash and front dog house. While in Wisconsin last year picking up my 62 bel air wagon I found two doors for the car which are in a whole lot better shape.

Re: 1951 mercury
Haven't done nothing to it. I start gathering up parts then I get discouraged with it and stop. The Cadillac and 62 wagon is getting all the attention right now.
