Okay guys. we need some help pulling the engine and trans out of a car at Jeffs house. we are shooting for this Saturday, 2-23-08. who can go? I can drive my truck up to pick it up but would rather have someone with better gas milage grab it. it will cost me 60 bucks or to drive my gas hog up there. I can toss in 10 bucks to help out on the gas if someone else goes. or if you guys want to have the club pay the gas bill, we would have to have a vote to make it so. one thing is for sure. we are sitting idle without the engine and rearend. we need to get it.

I tossed some stuff away, put my scooter in the side yard and shoved my 34 over some so the gasser will be coming back to Newport for the engine swap. I may need a hand pushing it up into the garage though.

it matters what Jeff says tonight. I'm either going to get the engine or tow the gasser one or the other. I have to see what Jeff is wanting to do before I can figure out the weekend

Do you want to drag it to your place to put the motor in or do you want to do it here.. I still have all my metal working tools here.. Its up to you..Just let me know I am planning on working this weekend, well atleast Saturday and then I will be out all next weekend from Fri-Sun..Keep me posted.. If we get a Dennis's cherry picker we can make good time dropping the motor in and welded up.. If the motor gets pulled Sat then we could make sparks Sunday...

Hey................If we start to pull a motor in the AM, should we meet for breakfast first to let the outside temoerature come up or would that be too distracting?

thanks guys for all the ones that said we could use their truck to haul the engine back here, Chad I tried to call you but I lost your number. PM me you cell if you get a chance. the more I thought about the weight of the engine, trans, the rearend, radiator, driveshat and stuff I figured it may be easier to haul it in my heavy rigg. I'm leaving here to go up there at 11 am Saturday morning. it will take me a bit to get to Dayton with 411 gears 60 mph or less will be the top end. anyone that wants to go is more than welcome to come with me. I have a front and back seat in the truck. I still haven't talked to Jeff yet but am hoping to get a hold of him tonight.

thanks everyone that went to Jeffs house to pull the engine out of the wagon. there was too many to really work on the car but it was nice to have a few of us together. thanks again to Jeff for the drivetrain. we came back with a running 460, C6 trans, driveshaft, radiator, 9" rearend and Doug tossed in a 390 geared center section for the 9".

Don't these guys look like a bunch of hoods. lol.
Scroungers C.C. 1964 Falcon Drag Car - Page 5 Picture1224
I had a good time. it wasn't too fun when I was goofing off and was trying to line lock the 454 sitting at a stop sign. all those heavy Ford part caused the daully to holeshot and toss the 460 through the tailgate. lol .Chad says the tailgate is down. I hit my brakes to slide the engine up and went on around the corner. I stopped to fix the tailgate. I screwed with it for a little bit then I shove it up and got in the rigg and started to pull away when the blue lights came on. he walked up and ask what was going on? I told him the tailgate flew open and I stop to close it. do ya think he would let up go? NO we have Ky plates. so we are sitting in the road while he's running my tags. walks up and wants my ID, runs it through. it took a long time. he came back and said to have a nice day. I thought to myself I will when I get back to Ky so I can close my tailgate if it comes open without getting screwed with. oh well thats what I get for screwing off I guess. on the bright side we had a few guys with Fords there and you all know they have to carry tools so I was able to fix my tailgate. lol!
